WHAT INSPIRES YOU? popnfreshoak-kt-June 09, 2013-009I find inspiration in many things, but when it comes to my job, I find I'm inspired by fashion and style.  I love looking at images and magazines and videos.  I love people watching.  I love interacting with people.

As a stylist, I have to find ways to stay inspired and motivated.  I found these images from a shoot we did a few years back.  These are some of my favorite hair images.  My model, Pascale, had the perfect amount of hair and I was able to style it in a few different ways.

popnfreshoak-kt-June 09, 2013-054I'll be doing another shoot in a few weeks and I can't wait to style up our models.  I have so many ideas and styles I would like to try!  Any chance I get to get my hands into hair is a great chance!

popnfreshoak-kt-June 09, 2013-072If you're a creative person, how do you stay inspired and motivated to create?  What keeps you at the peak of your game?  Is there something that helps you focus?  We'd love to hear!

Summer Shooting

freshairboutique

So here are some of our favorite images from our summer shoot!  Thanks to poppie clothing and Oak & Lily for collaborating with us!  Thanks to Kyle Thomas for shooting us and thanks to Pascale for being our model! We have different images in the salon as well, so the next time you're in the shop, take a look! popnfreshoak-kt-June 09, 2013-049

Colored Jeans It's the hot look for the summer.  Maybe you just went out and bought a pair, or you dug up an old shade, colored jeans are definitely a trend for summer 2012.

When shopping for your pair of colored jeans, try to keep in line with the type of clothes you currently have in your closet.   If it appears that your closet is full of greys, blacks, and endless neutrals, you might want to go with the pastel colors.  If you are one that likes to change it up all the time, you may want to go with something more vibrant.

Trends are a fun way to spice up your wardrobe.  Don't go nuts and buy seven different shades of colored jeans.  One, maybe two, but if you have a pair for everyday of the week you end up being a slave to the trends and spending way too much money trying to keep up.  They're called trends for a reason, they don't last... Wordless Wednesdays (ahh...not so much)

freshairboutique

I’m wearing:  Sweater/jacket/cardigan by Left on Houston, Oxmo tank, the jeans are Fidelity Scoops, and scarf by French Connection.

And my hair is by Praise at Freshair Boutique.  Do you ever get tangles in your hair from wearing scarves?  I do… I get a gross tangle-blob at the back of my head.  Praise turned my hair into a pretend short haircut to keep the long bits out-of-the-way.  Genius, right?  Tutorial to come…. :)

Back to the clothes: I love each of these things.  The sweater is perfect for this weather, it’s heavy enough that you can wear it on it’s own as a fall jacket, but will carry you through winter as a cozy sweater.

Fidelity’s scoops are my personal favourite jeans.  All of their jeans are fantastic, but there’s something about the Scoops that I just can’t resist. They’re comfortable, and their washes are always well done and flattering.  They’re perfectly tapered for boots, but they look really great with flats and heels. They’re my go-to jeans for all occasions.

Oxmo’s layering pieces are the softest, most comfortable things you’ll ever put on.  People just rave about them.  When I recently bought a long-sleeved version, I didn’t take it off for 3 days…. (I was going to edit that to make it seem less gross, but… it’s true.)

And this French Connection tube scarf.  It’s cozy, pretty and fun.  Scarves are one of the best things about fall weather.  And I love how easy tube scarves are.  No ends to dangle in your soup.

Happy Wednesday!!
