Puffy, puffy hair.
freshairboutique
Today is hair night at my house. My younger daughter will have her hair washed, conditioned and then braided. I usually do corn rows because they do last the longest. Every once in a while, I let her leave her hair out. She loves it, but because of the texture of her hair, it doesn't take much for her hairs to get knotted. When her hair is knotty it usually involves tears (on her part) and lollipops (on my part)... Whatever works people, whatever works...
Do you have any opinions on little black girls and their hair? Do you think Afros are high maintenance and are too much work? I guess it depends on the type of hair your child may/may not have.
Hopefully tonight will go smoothly, but I doubt it...

RIVER
It's coming on Christmas They're cutting down trees They're putting up reindeer And singing songs of joy and peace Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on
But it don't snow here It stays pretty green I'm going to make a lot of money Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long I would teach my feet to fly I wish I had a river I could skate away on I made my baby cry
He tried hard to help me You know, he put me at ease And he loved me so naughty Made me weak in the knees Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on
I'm so hard to handle I'm selfish and I'm sad Now I've gone and lost the best baby That I ever had I wish I had a river I could skate away on
Oh, I wish I had a river so long I would teach my feet to fly I wish I had a river I could skate away on I made my baby say goodbye
It's coming on Christmas They're cutting down trees They're putting up reindeer And singing songs of joy and peace I wish I had a river I could skate away on

Holiday Traditions
freshairboutique
Got any family traditions that are coming up? Anything that a lot of you, or a few of you, get into in December? I have two small kids that are at the age of actually remembering experiences. This holiday we will attempt to take the bus (again), go sledding, go skating, and last but not least, go to the Nutcracker.
As they get older, I'll see what we keep and what we ditch. Taking the bus, in my opinion, is pretty fun. We take it to the University of Manitoba, and when we get there we run around the snowy fields and throw snow and make snow angels (last year, my youngest sat in the snow and cried while my other daughter and I did all that fun stuff). I think it's something that they should experience instead of being driven around all the time by me...
At the shop we've kept the tradition of stockings going for the third year in a row. Starting December first, we put up stockings and all of us fill them till our last shift at work. On the last day, we open them up and laugh, and cry, and laugh. It's the best. We do take the Holidays off and this time spent to make memories and be together is very important for me. I hope all of the clients that patronize us aren't too inconvenienced by our break, but all of you should know that we are so grateful for each and everyone of you that choose Freshair Boutique to be your salon!
Whatever you get into this month please be careful and please enjoy your friends and family. You know I will!

VERGE CURL STYX
This curling iron is amazing! I just bought one yesterday and I love how easy it is to use. It's a curling wand with THREE sizes to choose from. The wands heat up insanely quick and are super hot. Because of the heat, make sure to use a heat protector with the wands. Also, because it's really hot, you don't need to have it in your hair for as long as some other curling tools.
For $110 you get the wands, a lame little glove, (I personally hate the glove, it creeps me out and I refuse to show an image of the horrific aforementioned item) and a carrying case. I like the case because it keeps all the parts in one place and allows you to take it wherever you like, if you like.
Next time you're in the shop ask for the wand to be used on you and see what you think? Some important things about this tool 1) protect your hair and 2) protect yourself. The wands get pretty hot and because the wand is quite long it's easy to burn yourself. Please be careful and curl safely! That's the fresh perspective...
