HAIR
We have survived a third lockdown here in Manitoba! As of June 26th we were allowed to open again for the third time, after a series of mandated government lockdowns. Being closed for almost 6 months is intense, let me tell you. I know that many people struggled to make sense of the way our country was handling the pandemic. Each province had a few different policies but unilaterally, salons were closed.
There are many hairstyles out there, but 6 months without a haircut can create an en entire new look! If you usually wear it real short, then you would have likely taken matters into your own hands! Was that you during the pandemic? Did you just throw your hands up and buy that box colour? Did you attempt to watch a tik tok video and give yourself a shag? At any rate, I’m sure it may have crossed your mind. Well, lucky for Manitobans, we are open!
So if you have cut your own hair, I hope it went well, and if you were able to wait for the shops to reopen, bravo! Here’s to hoping that we never shut down again! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
FASHION
Here are some images of looks I’m into right now. Bright, sunny and full of summer! Any of you like wearing bright colours? Let me know in the comments!
ECO BOUTIQUE
Here are some items you can get at anytime in our online store. These items aren’t necessarily hair related, but they are life related. Our eco boutique has things that you can use in other aspects of your life. Laundry detergent, reusable paper bags and sustainable body wash and lotion are just the tip of the iceberg! What’s not to love? Try them out here!

PLANTS
Introducing, the OKWUMABUA PLANT BIBLE! How many plants do you have in your home? We are at 36. We lost Tamika (plant) to mite last week so…
I like to name my plants. For me, this adds to how I care for them. Giving them names, sort of humanizes them a little. Does that make sense at all? For example, I have 4 Sansevieria plants. Sebastian, Sarah, Simon and Sandy. It make it easier for me if the plant name and species sort of match. Fergus is our resident fiddle leaf fig, but Fiona is also a fig. Just not a fiddle leaf. Phineaus is our philodendron and he tried to quit us, but I brought him back to life (he loves me now). Monica, our monstera, lost her tiny pot (small child collided with the table she was on) and after I moved her to a bigger pot, she thanked me so much by being the queen I knew she could be!
Monica, our pride and joy

Plants are great for air purification and well-being. Give them a try and start with something small and care free like a sansevieria or succulent. Good luck!
