Makeup

I'm constantly checking social media for different makeup inspiration to come up with new techniques or just something new to try. I love seeing all the different things that people are doing out there but there is one thing that always catches my attention and that's special effects makeup. It can be simple and sweet or it can be gory and intense. It's really cool to see what all the amazing artists out there come up with.

They're not your everyday look but they're equally as beautiful and amazing. Takes a nice steady hand and the right product to create these looks but the end result is so worth it. As someone who is into comic con, videogames, comic books etc... these looks always intrigue me and it's awesome to see the different looks come to life!!!

TOP SHELF

Here are my three favorite products of the moment.  I simply cannot live without them.

We all have our go-to hair and makeup products.  Finding those right ones can be a bit of a process.  You need products that aren't only high quality, but work for your skin and hair type specifically (everyone's are different.)

1. KEVIN MURPHY- Young Again (hair serum)

young again

This serum is AMAZING.  I've been dying my hair for at least 13 years, so you can only imagine how dry and brittle it can get.  Ever since we've started carrying Kevin Murphy products at my salon, I've been addicted to this one.  I usually put about two pumps in my hair after I get out of the shower, and throw in an extra pump every other day when my hair is dry.  It's never felt so smooth without feeling greasy.

2. PURE ANADA- Black Mascara

pure anada

We've recently just started carrying this mascara at work, but 90% of us are already hooked.  Our eyes are incredibly important, so we should treat them well.  Makeup can be quite harmful, but finding natural makeup, including mascara, that actually works can be difficult.  Pure Anada's mascara is naturally paraben-free, gluten-free, and mercury-free.  Not only that, but it does a fantastic job of adding the appearance of length and volume to your natural set of lashes.  What more could you ask for?

3. MAILIE- Koke'e Body Polish

kokes-scrub_952_general

This body scrub is the perfect balance of grit and oil.  The organic sugar makes it gentle enough to use over your entire body (minus your face) yet does the trick of sloughing off all those dead skin cells.  Meanwhile the combination of organic jojoba, sunflower, castor, and extra virgin coconut oil create the perfect amount of moisture that skin lacks, with a scent that is to die for.

Those are three products that I would recommend anyone giving a fair shot.  What are your top three??

"TOP TWO"

MAKEUP    l    HAIR    l    NAILS

trends for spring 2013.

Whether you're a magazine reader, or fashion blog follower (like myself)...you've probably been inundated with "top trends" for the coming spring season.  Which, is hopefully here sooner than later!  As much a "Winnipeger" as I am, I can only handle the snow for so long...

That being said, I've been searching the web day&night for some spring fashion inspiration.  Hair, makeup and nails all play an equal part in your overall look.  Here's my top two in each category.

MAKEUP

dark glamour

Deep and rich shades, like bordeaux, on the lips seems to have be trending for a little while now. But I am still IN LOVE with this look. Who says we have to only wear these kind of shades in the fall? I say we can totally carry them into spring...

going grunge

A lot of grunge makeup is softer on the face and focused on the eye. Eyeliner is a key player, but try focusing on the lower lash line. If you want to have it a little more subdued, use a brown liner and smudge it with some brown shadow and an angle brush.

HAIR

blow-out & 90's flip

Blow-out (aka blow-dry) AND 90's flip? Shit, this look is TOO good to be true.

short with fringe

Fun & flirty. Chopping your hair seems to be all the rage lately. Adding just the right fringe can give you that much needed change you've been waiting for.

NAILS

subtle nail art

Sometime the tiniest little pop of colour is all you need. Rather than doing that classic french, reverse and colour the half moon. Contrasting colours will make it stand out even more.

mint condition

Seafoam and mint nail polishes are definitely two of my favourite colours. A dear old friend of mine has been wearing mint for a long time now and instagrams a picture near anything else mint. And voila, mint condition. Actually quite genius. Check her out @houseofelle

What are your top two?

LUSH LIPS

LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics: lipstick review.

LUSH lipstick in Believe

All I can say is whoa.  My momma conveniently stuffed my stocking with one of LUSH's beautiful lipsticks, by chance, simply because MAC was out of a similar color.  I will admit to being a MAC lipstick fan for years, but over the last few months I have quickly become a LUSH supporter.  For more reasons than one.

My new go-to color: Charm by LUSH. All thanks to a stocking stuffer at Christmas time from my momma.

They have thirteen highly pigmented colors to suit all your moods.  Not only does a little go a long way with this product, but it contains 3 incredible ingredients to soften up those lips all at the same time.  Organic jojoba oil, candelilla and rose wax, are the perfect blend to help prevent dry, flaking bits.  Who wants to plant a kiss on a set of scaly lips?  I know I sure wouldn't!

lush lipsticks

Not only is the packaging cute with an easy applicator, but the names are irresistible.  They come with full dictionary definition, quick color descriptions, ingredient list, as well customer reviews on the company's website www.lush.ca.

If you want to see another great review from a blogger, you should visit www.tagadianescosmeticdrawer.wordpress.com.  How good does this color look on her? Wowza.

A perfect orange-red lip for any night out.
