OPI GELCOLOR

There's a real permanent polish phase going on and I thought I should touch on it a little.  Permanent polish is a service similar to gel nails.  It's a basecoat that you cure, followed by a thick nail polish that needs a UV or LED light to set or 'cure'.  Then you put a topcoat on and cure again.

The look?  Perfectly polished hands that can stay this way for up to 2 weeks.  The service is about an hour-long because you need about 10 minutes to remove the previous polish.  If you're getting it done for the first time it takes less than an hour and is dry instantly! No need to wait around the shop, or get someone else to dig into your purse to get your keys...when the topcoat is cured you can do anything you like.  The gel hardens and is set.

Remember everyone is different.  My permanent polish has lasted a week and that is a small victory for my hands and I.  At one point permanent polish only lasted on my nails for up to four days.  This is my first time trying OPI's permanent polish and it worked really well on me and finally lasted an entire week!

If you are a permanent polish lover and haven't had OPI's GelColor then you are missing out!  That's the fresh perspective...

LOVE Can I just say that Lauryn Hill and I broke up a few months back (we had a terrible fight, ask me about it if you really wanna know...) and since then I've been thinking...

Anyone that knows me knows that I love LOVE.  I like everything about it and I especially love songs about love.  The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill might be one of the best love albums of my life.  I know that's a heavy statement but, it's true.  Her voice, the lyrics, I'm touched.

I've been listening to her since we got back together and would like to share one of my faves off that album.  To all of you lovers out there, carry on.  To those of you still searching, this one's for you.  That's all, that's the fresh perspective...

"Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You"

You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you. You'd be like heaven to touch. I wanna hold you so much. At long last love has arrived. And I thank God I'm alive. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you.

Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak. But if you feel like I feel. Please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you.

I need you baby, and if it's quite all right, I need you baby to warm a lonely night. I love you baby. Trust in me when I say: OK Oh pretty baby, don't let me down I pray. Oh pretty baby, now that I found you, stay. And let me love you, oh baby let me love you, oh baby....

Just a little food for thought.

Lingering Life Questions

Where do you live?
Does this place bring out the best of you?

How do you live?

Does your lifestyle give something back to others?

Who have you surrounded yourself with? Is your social network a true reflection of the real you?

How do you spend your time? Is most of your time in service to yourself or others?

Who do you believe you are? Can your life transcend these beliefs and allow you to be fully present?

I don’t have all the answers– just a few questions I try to ask myself periodically.

Check this out.  Funny how accessorizing can say so much and yet so little... Personally, I love to put accessories in my hair because it adds just a little more.  I wonder what will be written about us in 20 years...  Thanks for the clip Pascale, and that's the fresh perspective...

SCARVES Since we're on a scarf kick this week I wanted to show you guys some other ways to wear them.  Scarves are a great accessory and can be used for so many things.  Belt it around your waist, wrap it in your hair, wrap it around your neck...the combinations are endless.

As someone who owns a few scarves I will leave you with a few tips.  Try to make sure your collection has variation.  If you have a lot of long scarves, maybe try buying a shorter one.  If your collection is mostly heavy scarves, opt for a light one on your next purchase.  Material is also important.  Some scarves do better when bunched up, some are nicer looking when left sleek.

Don't be afraid to ask anyone of us at the shop to show you how we would wear them or tie them.   I know that there's a scarf sale at the shop, and If you are looking to get someone a gift or maybe just add a little something to your repertoire, come check out our selection.   Keep in mind that it's only a deal if you need it so...I hope you guys have cold necks and/or bursting wallets! That's the fresh perspective...

Salon Etiquette PART 1 ~ RE-BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

For many of you salon regulars, you may have noticed that in the past few weeks it's been a little harder to see your favorite girls... What's going on?  What's happening? We are getting busy.

Our little shop is finally catching on around these parts and we are working, working, working.  If you are a regular client that's used to just calling a few days before your desired appointment then you should know that those days may be over.  How does that seem fair?  You're the one who's been coming regularly, a loyal and consistent client. Now no one can fit you in?!!! BALONEY!!

What you need to do is to be booking your appointments when you leave the shop.  It's easy to cancel an appointment you have, but very hard to make one when there aren't any available.  This is good practice for everyone and should be done at every appointment just to insure that you indeed have an appointment.

This booking etiquette is something stylists can work on as well. Your stylist should be telling you when to book your next appointments to coincide with whatever hair goals you are trying to reach.  Try to remember, and we should try to remind you as well.

Every service at Freshair Boutique should be a marvelous one and the salon etiquette series will help you learn what should be happening at every visit and what you could be doing to make it great!  That's the fresh perspective...
