the fresh perspective...

So I was chatting with a client during a haircut and we got onto the topic of 'hair changes'. I may have come on too strong in the past couple of posts about trying new things with your hair and changing, changing, changing...

What if your hairstyle is best for you already? What if you have a cut and shape that works with  your hair type, lifestyle and personal style? What if everyone always tells you how great your hair is? It's official, if you're a change-a-holic keep it up.  If you have found the best style for you and your hair type then maybe don't change.  There are other ways to change-up your hairs... Maybe color? Maybe your changes need not be hair related.

I guess I'm just trying to clarify my older posts... If you like to change things up then do so.  If you feel like you have your hair game on lock down then maybe the changes you seek are not even hair related.  That's all, that's the fresh perspective...

This poll is not related at all to this post. I was just curious to see how many candy lovers were out there...

So the changes, as you can see, have finally happened.  Instead of posting about product today, I'd like to write about good old change... Again...  I feel like this topic is one that I will always have time to chat about.  Maybe it's cause I'm a hairstylist.  Maybe it's cause I like change.  Who knows...  What I know is that life is too short for us to be stagnant and not grow.

Change happens in our lives every year starting with our birth dates.  We get older every year, we make goals, we cross milestones...  We do it without even realizing sometimes and then other times? Nope. Nada. Not gonna change, no way, not ever!

When changes don't benefit us we aren't interested.  When we are the sole beneficiary of a big change it's funny how quickly we can do it.  Getting married? Grow your hair out for six months so you can have the up-do of your dreams.  Just like that you can decide to make a change.

This site was a long time coming and I worked very hard on it.  I found it difficult to accept that I had to make a change in my life and learn how to build a site on my own.  I am not tech savvy and would rather pay someone to do it but as new business go money is short.  Praise made a decision and got to work.   Thanks again to all who helped me out!  That's the fresh perspective...

How often do you wash your hair?  I'm sure for most the answer is a few times a week, and for others, it's everyday.  How many issues do you have with your hairs? Are you absolutely happy with the way it looks, feels, smells?  Can you rattle off three things  right now that you can say you love about your hair?  If you're not too pumped with your hair or your hair style there may be a few things that you can do to help yourself out.  Of course the first (and most obvious to me) is to start a conversation with your stylist and see what he/she recommends.

The second thing? Just wash less. Simple pimple...  For those of you that have achieved ultimate hair bliss for now, disregard...  For you daily washers?  You gotta just try.  Slowing your hair washing can do wonders for you hair and it's longevity and condition.  I understand those of you who are very active and feel the need to clean your hair of any sweat and grime, but the sweat and grime may only need a rinse.  Rinsing everyday is better than adding shampoo everyday and even if you switch to every other day to start you will notice a difference in time.

Have an issue with the grease build up?  Your hair may be producing so much oils because it's being washed off daily.  If you let your natural oils come in over time the state of grease in your hair will spread out.  If you feel like you're in between washes and your hair is super greasy there are many types of products to mask the greasiness.  Also, you can pin parts of it up and/or wear a hat.  Just a few options...

Like I said, before you start any type of new hair regime talk it over with your stylist and ask him/her if maybe slowing down your washing might help a bit.  That's the fresh perspective...

It looks like we're in for rain for the next couple of days and I thought that maybe a rain coat chat would be useful.  Winnipeg, in my opinion, doesn't have a great selection of Men's clothing stores for all shapes and sizes.  If you're tall or large, there's Moore's or the Big and Tall stores.  If you're average and made of money there's Hanford Drewitt or Harry Rosen, to say the least.  If you aren't made of cash, there's always the Bay, Club Monaco and some casual Boutique type stores on Portage, Corydon, and Osborne.  Like I said in my earlier hey boys post, it all depends on your shape/physique. The internet is a good place to go to look for gear that may suit your style and shape.  The only downer is that you must know your measurements and how you like the 'fit' of your gear. I have compiled a few rain coats that I think are fashionable and don't look like you are going on an exhibition with Jacques Cousteau (nothing wrong with that look either...)

Now that the weather is changing we can get away with less heavy coats, jackets and things... For today's post I'd like to write about layering.  Layering is a great way to keep warm without wearing too much heavy stuff.  My friend above has three things on.  White men's shirt, hoodie and cotton blazer.   The key here is to make sure that every layer is thin enough to fit under the next one.

I also think that your physique will come into play here.  If you're quite lean, three layers may be fine but if you're a bit thicker then maybe only two...

It's all about the weight of the material and the amount of layers.  Give this look a try and remember that in most cases layering is more of a casual look.  Even if you add a tie like my friend in the first picture you will still run the risk of looking a titch casual.  Boys, I'm thinking about you and just want to make sure you guys are alright.  You alright? Good...

Peace
