FEBRUARY!!!

freshairboutique

now-23-february11Ah February!  The month of Love, Black History, Groundhog Day, Louis Riel, Mardi Gras, and much more.  We made it through the first month of the new year!  How are those New Years resolutions looking?  Still working out?  Still saving money and spending less? Still attempting to get a hold of your diet and eating?  I'm going to go with PROBABLY NOT!

images-2I'm not trying to be a downer but the chance that any of us are actually still keeping up with our goals is probably quite slim.  I'm sure some of us are going strong but I bet a majority of us have already let a few things slip through the cracks these past few weeks.  I know for myself, I've been struggling with the weather and have slipped off a bit on my spending/saving goals (nothing like retail therapy when you're suffering from the low temperatures.  I was doing so good and now.... Well, let's just say that I'm slipping a wee bit.

februaryI've decided to try to focus on some of the great things that February has to offer in order to cheer myself up.

1) the shortest month of the year. let's get on with it!

2) RAW: almond

3) some dinner dates and birthday parties

4) one month closer to summer coming... (see first point)

5) NFL Super bowl XLVIII

snowpocalypseI can't think of anything else, and now that I have made this list I feel like maybe this wasn't such a good idea... I'm up to nothing considering that two of my points are basically the same point and the Super Bowl is totally and indoor event that lasts only a few hours...  I'm over this weather and I'm over this cold.

Peace

How much more can one person take??

Northeast SnowSo I'm officially depressed.  I live in one of the more coldest places in the world and I'm done.  I can't even think about anything else, I can't focus on anything else, I can't talk about anything else.  This weather has finally broke me.  So much so, that I am going to bring everyone down with me. ****The following images are horrifying. DRY TIMES... KEVIN+MURPHY+YOUNG+AGAIN+AND+SHIMMER+SHINE+SPRAY

We have about 3 more months of the cold before we can look forward to the humidity, sweat, and mosquitoes!  How much more static can you take?!  With the on-and-off of toques and the constant friction of scarves, our hairs are suffering...

Cue the masques, and the treatments!  This time of year we could all benefit from extra conditioning.  Our skin, our hair, our lips, our hair, our bodies, our hair....  A deep treatment/masque might be all you need to cure your hair's thirst.  Weekly masques coupled with a treatment spray/oil can help moisturize your dry ends, and take care of the static.

Don't let the price of a treatment scare you off.  You don't need much, and if you use it properly you'll find that you'll use less of your other products as well.  You'll need less shampoo and conditioner, and probably less styling products.  Healthier hair tends to be easier and shinier and more cooperative.

For this cold season, we're offering masques as an add-on for $5 with any hair service.  And in my humble opinion, this is a great deal because treatments usually start at $15!  We want you to try one so you can see and FEEL the benefits.  Ask your stylist for any suggestions that they can give you for the dryness and static state your hair might be in.  If you come to our shop, remind your stylist that you would like to try the treatment special for this season.  Trust me, you won't regret it.  That's the fresh perspective...

It's so cold.

It seems that all over the world folks are suffering from the extreme cold.  I'm always looking for new recipes and I found this one.  Cold weather hotpot.  I'm going to give it a try, and I will report back when I do so... recipe-image-legacy-id--52267_11For all you non-meat eaters, you can always substitute the meat for more veg.  That's the beauty of cooking, you can always just take away and add as you wish.  Stay warm my friends!

Peace

new-year-res-4Happy New Year jokers!!  As per usual, everyone has a subconscious list of all the things they would like to do better in the new year.  We all have an internal collection of the things we didn't accomplish and want another crack at.  Is that bad?  I don't think so...

Start-again-new-beginning-picture-quoteIt's the same type of feeling you have when you wake up in the morning.  It's a new beginning, it's a fresh start.  Yesterday you didn't get the laundry done.  Today, you will.  Just a part of being human.  I have heard so many people say, "why wait till the new year to try to be better?", "new years resolutions suck, and are stupid.  be better all year round...".  Really??

tumblr_mysfyskeRe1sg08xxo1_500I can't say I totally agree because I think it's in our innate nature to 'want'...  We want more money, more time, more, everything.  Just like I said before, whenever I wake up, the new day (and the new sun) makes me think of a list of things that I would like to accomplish.  Even if it just the laundry, I'm positive that those types of small goals are just as life changing as the big ones we make on the first of every January.

uruz-4And besides, laundry is sort of a big deal, I mean, I post my outfits on Fridays so there's that...
