DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK, I’VE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS

This is my time, again.  I have said many times that writing was something I would like to work on and maintain.  For those of you who have been here from the beginning, you may have remembered freshfood as a Saturday blog post about literally, whatever.

remember those loooong nails?!

My mind is an open field of thoughts, dreams, questions, ideas and ideals.  I can’t stop it from trying to discover, learn and understand (I’d love suggestions on how to slow down your brain).  I think that freshfood was sort of a creative outlet for me and I didn’t even know it!

In a world of ‘likes’ and digital glory, it’s hard to know if you’re really doing it right.  I wrote every week for a few years and our followers might have been around 5-15 people (who probably felt bad for me honestly).  Compared to other blogs I’ve read or how online products grow, freshfood was/is developing at a snail’s pace.  As long as the 5-15 of you care to peek inside my mind, I hope to bring you nothing but pure entertainment if no education or knowledge is gleaned from my ramblings.  The goal is to stay consistent and hopefully some folks will be into my words.

…my future’s so bright!

So yeah, here we go, the first of a few/many.  I’m hoping to get some things off my chest and also ask some serious questions (i’m very intrigued by perspectives that are different from mine so this could be interesting). Since the pandemic and the death of George Floyd, I have myself experienced a sort of renaissance and freshfood (even though it’s old) is really a by-product of my “newness”.

I’m back at it and I’m ready for anything!  Don’t forget to subscribe! 😬

The Fresh Perspective...

Scrapbooking. Not just for Grandma.

When I was younger (tween-ish), I was pretty into scrapbooking. Those who know me now likely aren’t surprised to read this. I’ve always been really into papers, stationary, lettering, fancy pens…. you name it. Even now I could likely do a mini Michael’s pop up store in my home. Although I still love to craft, scrapbooking has left my realm of hobbies.

When sifting through the web for photos for this blog, I did feel a little urge of wanting to start. I think for me I would need more of a reason or something specific to document. If I were to have a baby I could see myself getting back into it - something you could gift to a loved one later in life. I once made one for my Grandparents, documenting our life experiences at the family cabin they purchased back in the 60’s. Creating a little capsule of memories of all of their kids and grandchildren growing up over the Summers spent out there was such an honor and felt like a very meaningful gift.

The style of scrapbook would be a lot different than what I did when I was younger. I would opt for more of a photo journal, possibly get a Polaroid camera for simplicity, and include more writing along with the photos and scraps. Love a good fresh notebook.

AM I REALLY A WRITER? journalism-for-blogging

I was reading an article a few nights ago about how to become a better writer and tips for getting your thoughts out there via text. It suddenly hit me! AM I actually a writer? DO I actually qualify as a writer? I mean technically, I guess yes, but I never saw myself as such.

The fact is, I am. I put my thoughts and ideas down on this forum and so many people now have an ability to read what I have posted. And not just people I know, but people I don't know and people all over the world!

75-but-why-didnt-you-tell-me

I'll tell you a wee secret, I have ALWAYS wanted to be a writer. I wrote one book as a young woman of 12 and attempted to start another but never quite finished... As I grew, I realized how much I loved to read and write and often wished that I could be published. Let's face it, I don't get paid to write here for all of you, but I do get to PUBLISH and that.  Is. Awesome.

I never thought that I could have my content exposed to the world and here I am. The fantastic world of the inter web has allowed all of us to become just a little bit more than what we could have dreamed. All of you that read other blogs and maintain your own should be so very proud.  Writing is a great way to express yourself, and now all of us can.

Kudos to all you writers and lovers of literature and all things text, I am honored to be part of this group!

That's it. That's the fresh perspective...
