Thanking You!

freshairboutique

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada today!

Typically I would say thanks to everyone who has affected my life since last October and because my list seems to grow more and more with the opening of the salon I can never directly send my gratitude to everyone I know has shown the same to me.  I am reminded of a song that I used to sing that sometimes made me a titch emotional thinking of all the people who came to mind when I would sing the lyrics.  To all of you, thank you, thank you, and I thank you!!

THANK YOU

'Cause even though when times get rough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you
When I felt I had enough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you

All through my life
I knew that you'd be my world
Knowing every where I go
Things you taught me they would show
So many times and changes
You've seen me through
I sure enough couldn't have survived without you
And so I thought up this song
To show my appreciation for lovin' me so long...
You don't know how much you mean to me

P90X

freshairboutique

Yikes!   Today is the first day of Freshair Boutique's P90x challenge.  Team Freshair consists of Lisa, Amy, Christie and myself. We are going to be doing four of the many DVD's that P90x has to offer over a period of three months.  Please feel free to hold us accountable as we are hoping to be in shape by Christmas.    Every now and then I like to do a little program to help break up the monotony of my physical activity.   All of you are now involved!   In preparation for our pow wow tomorrow, I made the girls some DVD covers for their discs...(Sunday night football is less than interesting so I'm crafting while I watch).

Okay, we start now and we will keep you posted.  Maybe if the girls will let me, I can show a photo of us half way through... I'll find out.

Peace

Lest we forget...

What a weekend.  Yesterday just saddened me, and it's hard to believe that so many lives were lost ten years ago.  Just a little poem to remind us of the things that really matter...

 Wage Peace

Judyth Hill

Wage peace with your breath.

Breathe in firemen and rubble, breathe out whole buildings and flocks of red wing blackbirds.

Breathe in terrorists and breathe out sleeping children and freshly mown fields.

Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.

Breathe in the fallen and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.

Wage peace with your listening: hearing sirens, pray loud.

Remember your tools: flower seeds, clothes pins, clean rivers.

Make soup.

Play music, learn the word for thank you in three languages.

Learn to knit, and make a hat.

Think of chaos as dancing raspberries, imagine grief as the outbreath of beauty or the gesture of fish.

Swim for the other side.

Wage peace.

Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious:

Have a cup of tea and rejoice.

Act as if armistice has already arrived.

Don't wait another minute. Celebrate today.

Secret Weapon...

freshairboutique

I had a great weekend!  I went to Top Gun in the Park, a birthday party, a shower, and an anniversary dinner!  It was busy and intensely fun.  It got me to thinking about how fortunate I am to be in the family I'm in and to come from the family I come from.  The Idonije's and the Okwumabua's have combined to make 'us'.  Last week was my four-year wedding anniversary and with the ladies up and coming, it hit me that I am at the grass-roots stage of growing 'us'.

My husband and I come from families that believe that family is first.  Family is the most important because they are all you really have.  I know that no matter what, I have them in my corner, and something about that fact gives me confidence for days...

Family support is the secret weapon to success, in my eyes, and it is the only reason I am where I am and why I am the way that I am.  The fact that no matter how many awesome (and by awesome I actually mean stupid) mistakes I have and am going to make, we can always work things out.  I may not always agree with the way that my family might deal with things and I may not always like their advice or opinions but they are the family I have and I will honor them forever because I know that they will and are always there for me.  I can only hope that I can give my ladies the same secret weapon I have...  I'm working on it...hard.

Peace

Keep it in the closet?

freshairboutique

So today is August first and I did some serious purging (my closet that is).  I cleaned out our storage closet and took eight bags to Sally-Ann.  It is what it is, it's a long weekend and I cleaned out our storage closet.  It used to be on a long weekend I would have all kinds of social activities and now...closet cleaning... It's funny, the fact that many of us even have a closet only for storing things just tells me that I have a great life.   Most dwellings on earth are miniscule and I'm living in a 1500 square foot home with space for days...

I think that I will clean out my closet again in three months, I feel like once a year isn't enough.   Too much can be stored in 365 days so on November 1st I will purge again!!

Hair today, gone tomorrow...

freshairboutique

The most popular question I get asked is,"what are the trends for hair right now?".  Hair trends are funny because some never go away (like bangs)

and some are current for a distinct time (like side volume).

Well I believe that the trends tight now are ombre (dark roots fading to light ends),

texture (perms),

and long lengths.  These current trends work best with long hair and I feel as though that is the main trend.

Long hair, right now, is where it's at if you ask me.  If you never have had long hair then maybe this is the time to try it out.  If you love short hair and it suits you best, you can always use variations of the looks mentioned above to  achieve the trend.

I think that trends are fun but the best trend is to try to do things that suit your hair type.  That sounded a little cheesy but it is the truth.  If you stick with trends and styles that suit the kind of hair you have you will get more compliments on your lid.  FYI-always check with your stylist to see what's new and available and then see if your hair can handle it.
