Priti NYC So as most of you know, we have a new esthetician and are now carrying this 3-free polish line out of New York called Priti NYC!  I've been using it and must give my opinion.

It doesn't stink as bad as other polishes (I know this because my husband complains when I paint my nails, and in the few times I've used it, he has said very little).  Even their soy-based polish remover has a decent scent.

This polish is available in a plethora of colors and really does the job on delivering on the shade-you-see-is-the-shade-you-get thing.  I know I'm very hard on my nails, which causes them to chip.  I don't use gloves to clean and I treat my nails like they are made of Teflon.  I polished my nails on Tuesday with LUNGWORT (a blu-ey color) and I did notice some chipping today...  I will be re-polishing this weekend and I feel like as long as I'm aware that I have polish on, maybe I'll be less harsh?  I find that the greener a product is, the less it usually performs (that is my own opinion and I'm sure some of you out there may disagree with me).

To say it again, for the month of June we are giving all you loyal peeps, and even new clients, a chance to experience our luxurious spa manicure or pedicure (complete with paraffin bath and Malie products) for the price of the regular mani/pedis.  Please call the salon for more info---204-414-9023 or 'like' us on facebook to get more details.  It's a great way to give Priti NYC polish a try.  Let us know what you think.

This polish is good, and new, and fresh, and taking Winnipeg by storm so....get ready!  That's the fresh perspective...

Bio-Oil

We don't sell this at the shop but I like to review products that I actually use.  Some of you may be familiar with this product if you have given birth.  It's most known for reducing stretch marks and getting rid of unsightly skin scars and discolorations.

Once your body has been ravished with stretch marks, there is a high possibility that they will never leave you.  This product smooths them out and makes your skin feel so, so, so, so, so soft.  So soft.

The oil has a light scent as is quite light surprisingly.  I used it for three months last year and eventually switched to cocoa butter after that run.  I'm back for another three-month round and I'm positive the results will be even better yet.  Like I said earlier, the oil will not remove your stretch marks all together, but it does lighten them up and make your skin supah smooth and soft.

Try Bio-Oil if you have issues with the state of your skin. Also, you can get it for the lowest price at Superstore.  That's the fresh perspective...

Motions Hair and Scalp Daily Moisturizing Hairdressing

This is a great product.  This is the hair and scalp oil I use in the shop.  Very similar to Dax or any type of hair grease.  It's a daily oil and so you would have to use it every day because it's so light.  I like that its easy to spread, and I like that it's not goopy or sticky.  It has a light fragrance and adds a good deal of shine too.  How often should you oil your scalp?  Well that depends on a few things.  How oily does your hair get? How often do you wash?  Do you need a heavy pomade or a lighter one?

TIP: only oil your scalp when your hair is bone dry, maybe two days after your wash...that's the fresh perspective...

Essensity Air Fix Pump Spray

This is  the hairspray that we carry in our green line Essensity.  It's a pump spray, eliminating the use of aerosols.  This fixing spray has a light sent and medium to firm hold.  It lasts all day and is free from all the junk that you may find in aerosol hair sprays.  The not-so-good thing about the pump spray is that I think it's too easy to overuse and make fine hair heavy with pump spray wetness.  For best results, hold at least a foot and a half away from the target area.

Pump or aerosol, the choice is yours and regardless of what your decision is, hairspray should definitely be in your bag of tricks  (if you're one to take the time to style your hair).  That's it.  I'm out.  That's the fresh perspective...

Soma Prism Spray Shine

This spray shine is. In. Credible!  This spray is known for recharging fading colors and adding super shine.   It will protect your hair from humidity and static fly-aways. This product is lightweight and non-greasy but packs a vibrant shiny edge.

It smells wonderful and boasts an eco-friendly boost.  Soma Prism Spray Shine is also organic, sulphate free, 100% vegan, 100% biodegradable, 100% alcohol free, hypoallergenic, and paraben & formaldehyde free.

There's nothing much more to say about this product except, use it sparingly.  A little goes a long way, that's the fresh perspective...

HAIR CLIPS I can't believe I haven't mentioned these sectioning clips!  They make any curling/straightening job a breeze because they keep the hair you aren't working on out of the way.

I was giving a hair tutorial to my client this week and that's when I realized the importance of theses clips.  She always thought when she would flat-iron her hair, she was to start from the top.  I let her know that starting from the top of your head is doing too much work...  If you start at the top how will you get to the underneath parts without destroying your hard work?  Well, with these sectioning clips, it's easy!

Start at your nape and clip the hair you aren't ironing/curling/styling up.  When you finish styling, release the clip.   Let down another section and clip up the above section.   Keep up with this system while working your hairstyle and it'll take you less time to iron or curl or back-comb or whatever...  One only needs two of these clips and even if your hairs are short they can still come in handy.  Ask your stylist about these sectioning clips the next time you're in your stylists chair and be prepared to wow yourself!
