Palmer's Cocoa Butter Now that it's fall, it's time to prepare my skin for the chilling temperature that is around the corner (okay, not that soon, but soon).  I've been an Oil of Olay girl for years and have recently went back to the cocoa butter.  I think that the type of conditioning you receive from this lotion is bar none.  I challenge anyone to try to recommend something better.  I have been using lotion from the beginning of my life and only a few moisturizers keep my skin from getting ashy.  If you are black (yeah I said it) or have really dark skin, you may find that in the winter months you need a heavier moisturizer to get you through.  Palmer's cocoa butter has been around for ages and works so well.  It smooths out scars and marks and  if you've had a few kids like myself and have some lingering stretch marks, this will totally help.

Some pros:  it smells nice and fresh and keeps skin moisturized ALL DAY LONG!  Some cons: it takes a long time for your marks to go away  and if your skin doesn't get too dry this cream may be to heavy for you.

In short, this lotion is great for someone who tends to get really dry skin, who may have some scarring, and anyone in between.  If you have any more useful info about this product holler at me... If you have any useful info about any product I've reviewed please shoot me a comment.  Thanks for taking the time to read this and you know, that's the fresh perspective...

OSIS DRY SHAMPOO

Osis has a product called dust it that is like a dry shampoo, and volumizer.  It comes in a powder form and adds a great matte finish and chunky texture.  This new product is very similar but comes in an aerosol can and not in powder form.

I used it for the first time when I was working on a hairstyle for fresh pop.  My model's hair was a little dirty and I sprayed it onto her hair and yuck!  First, maybe I held the bottle too close but instantly her hair was not shiny looking but grey and sort of greasy feeling.  It had a weird slip to it and my models brown hair was now a shade of powder grey dust.  It added no volume, and actually looked like I dumped a boatload of powder into her hair.

I didn't like the results at all and even after I sprayed from a further distance her hair just felt weird.  Luckily, I fixed the problem and the shoot went off without a hitch (stay tuned for that post)... Can't say that this product is one I  may try again, I prefer dust it and that's it.  That's the fresh perspective...

GUCCI RUSH

Oooh... This is one of my all time faves for a fall fragrance.  If you haven't smelled this perfume before you are in for a treat!  It is a rich, warm, musky scent with hints of gardenia, vanilla and patchouli.  It reminds me of fall and my youth... It reminds me of wool socks and pumpkins and dried leaves... It reminds me of chilled wind in the leafless trees...

I usually get my fumes from Shoppers Drug Mart because they are conveniently located everywhere, open late,  and have a very good selection of designer perfume.  If you find that you don't change your scent by the seasons, check out this fragrance... It's kind of nice to smell the way you think a season should smell like...  Fall is my favorite season and Gucci Rush is one of my all-time fave fall fumes....  Wonder why...?  Might be the orange shade of the container, or might be the birthday season, all I really know is that's the fresh perspective...

MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL Deep repair masque

So because of the impending weather coming I thought it might be appropriate to review this masque.  I feel as though folks want to treat their hair AFTER something is wrong versus treating it regularly.  This masque is a great addition to your 'winter' hair routine.  During this season,  a good heavy treatment can be done every two weeks to maintain your hairs moisture and condition.  When things get warmer it would be a good idea to change up the treatments and go with something lighter for the sunny months.  But alack, and alas, there are no sunny months in our horizon and it's time to accept that the cold is coming...

If you have very fine hair, you may use this product but just use it sparingly.  If your hair's are thick just use a bit more.  It's a pretty good sized jar and I would say that one jar should last you for the cold season.  So, don't wait for things to get frizzy before you take action.  That's the fresh perspective...

HAIRBODY

So, this product is perfect for fine haired folks, short haired folks and yeah...folks.  It is a very light hair care spray that adds a bit of body/volume, moisture and freshness.  It is a level one for hold so you won't be able to achieve a 'style' using this spray.  If your hair is fine and unruly this spray will not be able to tame your locks, you will need something with more heaviness and moisture.

This product, in my opinion, is okay and I don't reach for it often but every once in a while someone will sit in my chair that would need this particular styling aide.  That's all I got, that's the fresh perspective...

Style Manitoba Magazine

Freshair Boutique has a unique opportunity to show you what we are up to in Style Manitoba Magazine.  This magazine has been a part of Winnipeg's local literature for 15 years!  It covers everything from homes to restaurants and everything in between.  You can discover us on their hair editorial page and we attempt, in every issue, to inspire the readers of this mag to try something new and fresh.

There are four issues a year that coincide with the seasons... The upcoming issue will be 'fall' and then the holiday issue (my ultimate fave) will feature something timely for the holiday season.  We aim to try to shake things up a bit and show images that are completely outside the box...  Our summer issue featured Christy Donald with a ton of highlighting papers in her hair...  She was pumping up the color for summer and we wanted to show a different take on a 'summer look'.

We urge everyone to flip through the pages of this magazine to see what fun images we come up with and to see what's up and coming in 'Peg city.  Between our new museum, airport, rapid transit, stadiums and new NHL team, Winnipeg has so much more to offer these days and reading Style Manitoba Magazine is a great place to begin to explore our fantastic city.   If you haven't read this mag yet then do it soon and if you have been reading it, thanks for supporting Winnipeg!  That's the fresh perspective...
